Circle of Giving
Circle of Giving Event
Circle of Giving Members
Throughout history, the circle has been a universal sign of unity; people sitting around the campfire singing songs, telling stories or grieving; Conestoga wagons circling for protection; children playing games; classroom chairs placed in a circle to facilitate better communication. The circle symbolizes a coming together for the common good, an emphasis on the whole rather than its individual parts. For that reason, the Renton Community Foundation selected the Circle of Giving as the name of its annual community grants campaign.
The Circle of Giving was conceived as a way to bring attention to the fine work of the Renton Community Foundation and to distribute money to the many great programs in the Renton area. Since its inception in 2000, the program has granted more than $300,000 to a broad array of community groups, including the Renton Clothes Bank, Renton Area Youth Services, Vision House, Renton Food Bank, Salvation Army, the Renton School District, Allied Arts, Valley Medical Center, and even RCFs General Fund. In 2009, $42,000 was disbursed to worthy organizations.
The Circle of Giving campaign is conducted during October/November each year and specifically targets people interested in a "hands-on" approach to making grants. Although all gifts are welcome, donors making gifts of $1,000 or more are invited to participate in the grant selection process. (Gifts must be received by November 15th). All donors are invited to the awards ceremony in January or early Feburary of the following year. If you are interested in more information, please give the Foundation a call at (425) 282-5199, or you can access the application by going to
"Applying for a Grant from RCF."
WON'T YOU JOIN US?
At the Renton Community Foundation, our goal is to engage people in the act of charitable giving and to work as partners to achieve high-impact philanthropy. The Circle of Giving is just one way we are meeting that goal.
Wont you join with us as we work to elevate the arts, support our educators, help those less fortunate and plan for the future?
You can join the Circle of Giving by making a gift any time during the year (but before December 1st each year) Any gift is greatly appreciated, but gifts of $1,000 or more qualifies you for a seat at the table to help decide what organizations will be recommended to the Foundation Board for grants.
