Message from the Executive Director
Lynn Bohart, FAHP

No one would argue that times are tough. Things are broken. And no one knows that better than the myriad of non-profit organizations that serve our community. Even during the best of times, maintaining adequate funding for the services these agencies provide is difficult. Today, maintaining that funding is more difficult than ever. Add to that the exponential increase in people who need these services and the challenges become critical.

The Renton Community Foundation is growing quickly, but not quickly enough to solve these problems. We continue to reach out into the community to raise awareness, find new donors and establish new funds. But we've been hit by the economic downturn just like everyone else. So, what's the solution? How can you help?

We're looking for a few good people who want to partner with us to clarify the need, ease the strain and help people in need. Can you spare a few dollars to support one of the many funds we manage? What about hosting a small fireside chat in your home? Perhaps you might consider establishing a fund of your own to support a particular cause important to you, or to benefit the community at large. Maybe you can volunteer your time.

Someone once said, "The best exercise for the human heart is to bend down and pick someone else up." You can do that by joining us in this effort. As someone who cares about this community, you have a role to play when you join the Renton Community Foundation to help to make our community whole again.
